Inter-Prime Wood Sealer is clear and eliminates high or low spots before the application of varnish or paint. Interlux 1026 is recommended to seal plywood. Preparation
Surface Preparation is as for the Finish.
Method
WOOD filled with Interstain: Apply 2-3 coats. This will seal the wood and filler and then the paint or varnish of choice can be applied as directed. PLYWOOD: It is important to saturate the porous white summer grain of the wood until it takes on a glossy appearance. At least 2 coats will be required to reach this condition. Once gloss is obtained, the wood should be sanded with 120 grade (grit) paper before applying finish coats of paint or varnish.
Hints Thinner Brush - Brushing Liquid 333. Spray - Special Thinner 216.
Ventilation and Humidity Control It is best to paint on warm, dry mornings. Cold weather retards the drying and humidity can spoil the gloss.
Airless Spray Pressure: 170-204 bar/2500-3000 psi. Tip Size: 0.33-0.41 mm/13-16 thou.
Conventional Spray Pressure Pot: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi (gun pressure); 8-10 psi (pot pressure). Tip Size: 0.89-1.4 mm/35-50 thou. Siphon Cup: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi - gun pressure. Tip Size: 1.5-1.8 mm/60-70 thou.
Roller If rolling, use a thin nap roller and "tip-off" with a clean natural bristle brush.
Other Spray pressures listed are recommendations only. The applicator may use any settings which yield the best results for the individual spraying technique and current weather conditions.
Some Important Points Never leave bare wood exposed for long periods of time as it will absorb moisture. Avoid painting in direct sunlight. Product temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F. Ambient temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 35°C/95°F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 10°C/50°F and maximum 29°C/85°F.
Compatibility/Substrates Apply to clean, dry, properly prepared surfaces only. Inter-Prime Wood Sealer Clear is not a finish paint and must be overcoated with varnish or paint. Do not apply two part varnishes over Inter-Prime Wood Sealer Clear. Do not use with two part epoxies. Plywood must be sealed prior to painting. Failure to stabilize the white summer grain by saturating with the sealer will cause premature paint failure. If the soft, porous, white grain is not sealed, subsequent coats of paint will crack and check causing paint delamination.

TRANSPORTATION,STORAGE AND SAFETY INFORMATION
TRANSPORTATION: Inter-Prime Wood Sealer Clear should be kept in securely closed containers during transport and storage.
STORAGE: Exposure to air and extremes of temperature should be avoided. For the full shelf life of Inter-Prime Wood Sealer Clear to be realised ensure that between use the container is firmly closed and the temperature is between 5 deg C/40 deg F and 35 deg C/95 deg F. Keep out of direct sunlight.
DISPOSAL: Do not discard tins or pour paint into water courses, use the facilities provided. It is best to allow paints to harden before disposal. Remainders of Inter-Prime Wood Sealer Clear cannot be disposed of through the municipal waste route or dumped without permit. Disposal of remainders must be arranged for in consultation with the authorities.

I have used this on boats and interior post and beam construction. It is wonderful to apply by brush. FYI- I do believe that I am experiencing some compatibility issues with petit brand urethanes. There appears to be a minor bonding issue. Impacts, even minor ones, seem to cause de-lamination.

I always use 1026 as the first two or three coats on bare wood prior to varnishing. It seals the grain and goes on easily. Then I overcoat with at least 4 coats of varnish. Interlux Schooner is my preference. A capful of Penetrol added to a cup of varnish gives perfect flow out. 1026 skims over in the can after it has been opened. Bloxogen added to the can helps to preserve it. Putting it into a sealed plastic bag should work as well.

This made a huge difference in the final results. I sanded the entire boat twice, then one coat of this, then sanded again, then another coat of this, then sanded again. Then varnish/sand/varnish - The results are beautiful. I got TONS of compliments at the wooden boat show. You should feature this stuff in one of your how-to videos, more than just a mention. It is a MUST USE in my opinion.

Two coats of Interprime quickly fills the grain and seals the surface of any wood. Easy to apply and sand, the product is an excellent base for varnish. The product has a nice color and fills and dries quickly. Two top coats of your favorite varnish and your bright work will have that wonderful wet look. Saves on application time and expensive top coat material. This product has gone from a "boat item" to being used on all of my wood work projects. My only caution is that once the can is open, even if it is well sealed it will set off in a few days. Use it or loose it.

End grain on hand rails always seems to open and the varnish breaks down long before the rest of the rail. Sealer seems to fill grain and makes a great base for varnish. Will not need as many coats of varnish to get that "Candy Gloss" coat. Time will tell if it prolongs the life of the varnish on the end grain.
