    APPLICATION AND USE:

    Preparation:

Aluminum & Underwater Metals: Sandblast or sand with medium grade (grit) emery cloth to a bright metal finish and wipe clean. Apply one coat of Interprotect 2000E that has been thinned 15-20% with Reducing Solvent 2316N. Apply the Interprotect the same day as blasting or sanding. When the Interprotect 2000E is thumbprint tacky apply the first coat of Micron CF. Apply 2-3 coats of Micron CF following the proper dry times.

Factory Finished Aluminum: Prime with Primocon.

Bare Fiberglass: It is very important that bare fiberglass be properly prepared to completely remove the mold release wax. This will prevent delamination of the antifouling paint. Begin by scrubbing the surface thoroughly with a stiff brush using soap and water to remove loose dirt and contamination. Flush with fresh water to remove the soap residue and allow to dry. Remove mold release wax using one of the following Interlux products, Fiberglass Surface Prep YMA601 or Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202 following the product label instructions. To be certain the contamination has been removed, run water over the surface. If the water beads up or separates, repeat cleaning process. When the water sheets off, all contamination has been removed. After the surface has been properly cleaned, follow one of the application systems below.

No Sand System - Apply one thin, continuous coat of Interprotect 2000E or Fiberglass No-Sand Primer.

Sanding System - Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue and wipe with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202.

Bare Wood: Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue. Apply first coat reduced 10% with Special Thinner 216. Fill seams, if necessary, with Seam Compound Brown 30.

    Previously Painted Surfaces:

In Good Condition with Pacifica or Trilux 33: Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue.

TBT Copolymers: If these coatings are more than a year old, wet sand the surface with 80 (grit) grade paper to a clean, firmly attached surface. Remove sanding residue. Apply 1-2 coats of TBT Sealer. Sand surface with 80 grade (grit) paper to a clean firmly attached surface. Remove sanding residue.

Non-TBT Copolymers: Apply 1 coat of Primocon.

Hard Antifoulings: Sand surface with 80 grade (grit) paper to a clean firmly attached surface. Remove sanding residue. Apply Micron CF.

In Poor Condition: Remove antifouling paint in poor condition with Interstrip Semi-Paste 299E. Sand and wipe clean with Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202.

Steel: Contact the Interlux Technical Service Department at 1-800-468-7589 for full information.

Conventional Spray: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi (gun pressure); 10-15 psi (pot pressure); Tip Size: 1.8-2.2 mm/0.071-0.087"

Other: To prevent premature failure, ensure correct amount of paint is applied using the coverage as a guide.
