Circa 1850 Tung'n Teak Oil is a unique blend of tung oil and teak oil. Tung oil, a natural oil extracted from the nut of an oriental tree, has been used for centuries to protect and beautify wood. Teak Oil is commonly used on teak furniture and boats. Circa 1850 Tung'n Teak Oil combines the penetration of teak with the durability of tung oil. It penetrates deep into the pores of wood to strengthen the fibers of the wood while providing a low lustre, hand-rubbed finish. Circa 1850 Tung'n Teak Oil is ideal for interior and exterior wood.
Avoid working in direct sunlight or wind. Circa 1850 Tung'n Teak Oil is only to be applied onto bare, stained, or previously oiled wood surfaces - never over any other type of finish. Use Circa 1850 Furniture Cleaner to remove dirt and polish. Wipe on a liberal amount of Tung 'n Teak Oil using a lint-free cloth. Let the oil penetrate for at least 10 minutes and then wipe off the excess with a lint-free cloth. Wipe again after 20 minutes. Let dry for 24 hours. To smooth out the surface between coats, buff lightly with Circa 1850 Finishing Pads or steel wool (0000). Apply a second coat in the same manner as the first. To obtain a finish that is a bit shinier, a third and fourth coat may be applied, always waiting 24 hours between coats. Exterior wood should be recoated at least once a year.

I saw an article that said that this oil repelled wasps from teakwood. The wasps apparently chew the teak and mix it with saliva to build their nests. I tried everything (insecticide, essential oils, plants that supposedly repel them - nothing worked. So I bought this oil and sanded my bench, then wiped the oil on the bench with a rag. After a few days, the wasps stopped trying to find a piece of "raw" teak wood, left my yard and must have found another wood source. I am not sure how often I have to apply this, but I'll probably do it every spring to be on the safe side. It's like a miracle! So pleased with the product, plus the wood looks really pretty!

Rubbing in with a rag did very well to weatherize our new outdoor glider. Rubbing it in with a cloth, as opposed to using a brush, seemed so easy, and the coverage seemed to be even throughout. We did two coats and buffed to a wonderful feeling finish. I didn't see any down-side to this - and rubbing on another coat next year seems way easier than sanding the whole thing down again to 'update' other types of finish . . .

Great product. worked as advertised. would reccomend wearing plastic gloves - while the product smells great to me, it is sticky between the fingers if you're applying bare handed.

Apply with small pieces of white cotton such as t-shirts.I usually only use one or two heavy coats, wiped off after about 10 minutes. (caution don't use too much on ring porous wood like oak for the first coat because it will expand the wood and weep). I've used it on cabinets (even in rental houses), stair treads, balusters,hand rail,furniture,CNC carvings, trivets,house molding, doors, picnic tables, etc. Outdoors, somewhat protected from sun and rain the finish lasts for years.

Used with your furniture cleaner, this product was easy to apply but a little messy. My only negative comment is when I went to remove the tape to open the container, the directions on the side came off with the tape. I taped them back on, but they are now hard to read. This also happened with the furniture cleaner.

Goes on easy / even and looks great. Time will be the real test though - will have to see how it looks after 4 months and how often it has to be replied, etc. So far seems like a great teak product (though you don't have to put anything on teak).
